ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Thoroughbreds' two-game win streak was ended by the Mid-Atlantic Christian Mustangs, 87-81 on Saturday afternoon at Chesson Gymnasium.

BLC (7-5 overall; 1-3 NSAC) held an early lead in the first half but could not sustain it, thanks to nine first-half turnovers and only 40% field goal shooting in the first 20 minutes. MACU capped off their first half with a 15-3 run to take a 46-41 lead at the break, creating 13 points off turnovers.

The Mustangs (10-8 overall; 5-1 NSAC) imposed their will early in the final half. MACU shot 46% from the field in the second half while holding BLC to 39% and forcing eight more turnovers. The Mustangs' lead ballooned to 81-65 late in the contest as a result. The Thoroughbreds made one final push to get back in the game, but time was not on their side.

BLC freshman point guard Sam Benton, Jr. led all scorers with 27 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and handed out five of BLC's six assists. Keyshawn Bryant had another strong game, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.

The Thoroughbreds return home on Tuesday, February 7th to take on Virginia Peninsula Community College.
