Blue Lights College broke open a tight game in the latter stages of the first half and never looked back in posting a 79-59 NSAC win at Carolina Christian on Saturday night.

With 5:10 to play before intermission, the Thoroughbreds (8-6, 2-2 NSAC) led by just four points before posting a 15-6 run and led at 36-23 going into the locker room. CCC (5-6, 0-3 NSAC) stayed within striking distance and still trailed by only 13 with 11:03 to play when the Herd began a frenzied run.

Fueled by turnovers and stout defense, BLC broke away on a 20-8 run spanning more than six minutes to claim its largest lead, 70-45, with 5:09 remaining. Carolina Christian would cut the lead to 15 before succumbing by 20 at the buzzer.

Freshman Jeremiah Baker had another stellar performance for the Lights with 20 points, most coming in the paint, along with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Chris Koger had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and four blocks. Mason Rumph came off the bench and shot 100% on the night, 6-6 from the field and 1-1 from the free throw line, to finish with 13 points and four steals. Kenny Anderson was 3-8 from beyond the arc (38%) and finished with 12 points and six boards.

The win propels BLC into second place in the New South Athletic Conference with one league game remaining, a road trip to Warren Wilson next Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds enter the final week of the regular season with a home game Tuesday against Tidewater Prep.
