Blue Lights College fell behind early to an inspired battalion of Warriors from Appalachian Bible College on Saturday and dropped a hard-fought 78-74 decision in the fifth-place game of the Bible College National Invitational Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.
BLC (4-5) trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half. As has been the case all season, the Thoroughbreds then rallied to take their first lead at 63-62 with 5:21 left. They increased the margin to as many as five before ABC (2-8) charged back to reclaim the lead and hold on for the final score.
Appalachian took Blue Lights to overtime just five nights prior before the Herd prevailed 102-99. Saturday's game was the first loss to ABC in the nine-game series between the two schools.
Freshman Chris Koger led all scorers with 27 points.
The Thoroughbreds return home for their next game Tuesday against University Prep at 6:00 pm.
