BLC (6-8) opened up an early lead behind the hot shooting of Kenny Anderson, (five first-half 3's), Chris Dickey (11 first-half points) and Jawan Browder (14). Combined with stifling defense, the Thoroughbreds led by 29 at the break, 60-31.
After intermission, coach Mario Pharr emptied the bench, and the reserves kept up their prolific offense from two nights earlier with every player except one getting into the scoring column.
I love that we're building momentum heading into our top ranked opponent this weekend," said Pharr, referring to Saturday's game at USCAA top-ranked Johnson & Wales. "We still have some things to clean up
offensively and, more important, defensively, but they are starting to really buy in. I see more now of what I envisioned for our program. Let's keep it going!"
Anderson finished with 21 points to lead the Lights, with Chance Jamison tallying 16, Browder and Dickey contributing 14 apiece, and JB Ezzell-Upchurch adding 13, ten of which came in the second half.
The Herd faces a tall order on Saturday, traveling to 12-3 JWU in Charlotte. The Wildcats' only losses have come to NCAA Division I opponents UNC Wilmington and Campbell and NAIA powerhouse Ave Maria. Game time is 3:00 pm. You can watch via livestream at
