RECRUITING UNDERWAY FOR 2020-21

The perfect storm of a small squad, attrition, and sidelining injuries have forced the suspension of the BLC women's basketball team for the remainder of its inaugural season.

"While it's disappointing that the ladies will not be on the court anymore this season, it was the best decision to make for all the players," said athletic director Mike Davis. "We could not risk a player reinjuring herself just for the sake of a game. Our student-athletes are more important than that."

Point guard Kelsey Holloway broke her ankle in the 71-69 win over Johnston Community College on November 10, the program's first victory. Later, player-coach Madison Jordan aggravated an old knee injury. Those injuries, coupled with other players leaving the school, left the team with too few players.

"I am sad to announce that we have to suspend the rest of our season," said Jordan. "Next year we plan on coming back stronger than ever with the help of the games we were able to play this year and putting Blue Lights College women's basketball on the map."

Jordan is already recruiting for next season and encourages high school players to reach out to her for more information.
