Historic Victory for Blue Lights

FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WIN A NEW SCHOOL RECORD

Blue Lights survived a 3-point barrage from a much-improved Appalachian Bible College squad Tuesday night in recording a 106-75 win at Mt. Hope, West Virginia.

The victory was the fourth straight for the Thoroughbreds, surpassing the record three-straight set earlier this season. BLC has not suffered a defeat since Mario Pharr was named interim head coach in December.

But chalking up the W was not as easy as the final score might indicate. The Warriors used sharp shooting from beyond the arc to cut into the Thoroughbred double-digit lead in the first half before BLC sophomore guards Richard Campbell and Dominique Hunter took control of the game in the final stretch.

Hunter finished the night with 24 points, half of them coming from long range, to lead all scorers. Campbell closed with 23.

Three Thoroughbreds set new personal scoring marks. Justin Hurte poured in 17 points, Zachary Haney had 14, and Darian Williams marked 12.

Jorge Garcia chipped in 11. Victor Ngong added three to round out the BLC ledger.

Blue Lights improved to 8-5 on the year with the toughest stretch of the schedule starting at powerful Sandhills Community College on Thursday night, followed by road games at Vance-Granville, Central Carolina, and USCAA 3rd-ranked Stratford.
