Herd Struggling Through "Murderer's Row" Portion of Schedule

Youth has its privileges, but also its drawbacks. The young Blue Lights mens' basketball squad is feeling both of those as it suffered its fourth straight loss, 75-67 to the St. Andrews JVs Sunday night in Laurinburg.

The Thoroughbreds jumped out hot to start the season, with road wins at Columbia International JV, Southern State, Montreat JV, and Mount Olive JV. But the toughest part of the schedule was next, and the Herd has taken tough losses against Apprentice, Barber-Scotia, Central Carolina, and St. Andrews.

On a bright note, freshman Quante Hearn has been an offensive catalyst, averaging more than 20 points with a strong inside game. Delonte Crudup and Justin Hurte have also provided solid minutes off the bench. Coach Zach Hendricks brought back second-year performers Dominique Hunter, Richard Campbell, Jorge Garcia, and Mike Maxwell for a solid core of starters along with Hearn.

The Thoroughbreds are off for the Thanksgiving holiday, then return to the toughest part of their schedule with a home game against rival Carolina Christian on Tuesday November 27, then road trips to Stratford and Guilford JV.
