The Blue Lights women's basketball struggled to score early on Tuesday night and could not catch up in falling to The Belmont Abbey Developmental Team 81-43 in Apex. It was the first regular season women's basketball game in school history.

"We came together as a team in the second quarter," said player-coach Madison Jordan. "We definitely were overwhelmed at the beginning I guess with first game nerves."

Samia Davis goes into the BLC record book as scoring the first points for the Lady Thoroughbreds with a bucket in the first quarter. She also made the first free throw. Davis led the Herd with 11 points. Point guard Kelsey Holloway also had 11 including the program's first three pointer. Jordan added 10.

The Thoroughbred women travel to Smithfield on Saturday to take on Denmark Tech in the JCC Fort Hood Memorial Veterans Day Classic.
