Winning basketball games is hard. Sometimes just getting to the gym is tough, too.

Neither was easy Friday night, but the Blue Lights College men's basketball team accomplished both feats in claiming an 81-73 win over Carolina Christian College at the Greensboro Sportsplex.

But the challenges for the Thoroughbreds started before they even left the Apex city limits when the team bus was involved in a minor fender bender. Thankfully, no one was injured and the damage was minimal, allowing the team to continue and make it to Greensboro just in time for the tip off.

The effects of the disruption to the team's routine was apparent in the first half, and the Centurions took advantage in running out to a 40-37 halftime lead. Team fouls also plagued the Herd, eventually leading to three players fouling out before game's end. But BLC (10-8) recovered after the break with a balanced scoring attack that left CCC playing catch-up.

Sophomore forward Jorge Garcia was leading scorer with 22 points, while point guard Rich Campbell added 19 and freshman Darian Williams came off the bench for 13. Justin Hurte marked 11.

The victory is the 10th of the season, marking the first double-digit winning record for the Thoroughbreds.

The Lights are are the road again this afternoon visiting Warren Wilson College, ranked 12th
in this week's USCAA Division 2 national poll.
