They could be mistaken for a 1950's vocal group. The Four Sophomores certainly sang a winning tune Tuesday night as they were celebrated in the final home game of the Blue Lights College men's basketball season. The Thoroughbreds broke open a close game midway through the first half in humming to a 102-65 win over Appalachian Bible College at Hope Community Church Apex.

BLC (9-9) found itself in a battle early on, jumping to an early five-point edge before the Warriors closed the gap at 17-17. It was then that the Sophomores began to flex some "upperclassman" muscle, led by guards Richard Campbell and Domo Hunter. The Herd used its quickness and athleticism on a 35-12 run through the remainder of half to lead 52-29 at intermission.

The Thoroughbreds' Jorge Garcia came alive offensively in the second half, pouring in 18 of his 30 points after the break to the delight of an appreciative home crowd.

Campbell, Hunter, Garcia and Mike Maxwell were each honored at halftime as the first sophomores to come through the basketball program.

Hunter led all scorers with 35 points, his highest output of the season. Campbell and Justin Hurte each finished with 12, as Maxwell and Zachary Haney each added 4 points.

The Herd's next game is Friday night at 7:00 pm against Carolina Christian College at the Greensboro Sportsplex.
