In its inaugural season, the Blue Lights College wrestling team is already making a mark, claiming the #14 ranking in the latest National Collegiate Wrestling Association poll.

"I'm very proud of our team's progress throughout the first half of the season," said head coach Blake Risk. "Being ranked nationally in the Top 15 is definitely a great start to our inaugural wrestling season. Hopefully we will take this momentum and ride it to a higher finish."

Risk credits the work done every day in practice to elevating their performance. "Even though we are a first year program, our wrestlers compete as if we have been around for four years. We have a tough group of freshman who truly believe they can be All-Americans and national champions. I believe this mindset has helped mold our practice room into a very competitive environment."

"I've had a lot of fun watching our wrestlers push each other to a whole new level at practices," added Risk. "I honestly can't wait to see how our wrestlers finish up at the end of the season."

Tough matches still await the Thoroughbreds in Mid-Atlantic Conference play with top-ranked Apprentice and number 4 Liberty still to come.
