Blue Lights' three-game win streak came to an end Saturday night with a 94-56 loss at Apprentice.

The Thoroughbreds (4-2) had fallen behind by as many as 15 points in the first half before trimming the deficit to 41-34 on a Quante Hearn 3-pointer just 88 seconds into the second half, prompting a Builder timeout. Less than three minutes later, a pair of Dominique Hunter free throws cut Apprentice's lead to 46-41. But BLC then ran out of gas as the Builders scored the next 17 points and held the Thoroughbreds scoreless for the next six minutes before a lay-up ended the drought. Apprentice (1-0) then went on a 31-13 run to pull away and seal the deal.

Hunter's 13 points led the Herd, with Jorge Garcia adding 12 and Hearn chipping in 10 in the second half. Apprentice's Brandon Joyner led all scorers with 26.

Blue Lights returns to Apex for its home opener Tuesday night to face Barber-Scotia. Tip is set for 7:00 pm at Hope Community Church.
