Jorge Garcia and Jordan Kirkland had career nights for Blue Lights College, but it was not enough as the Thoroughbreds dropped a road basketball game to the Pfeiffer JV squad 108-82 on Wednesday night.

The fast and hot shooting Falcons opened on fire from the field, running out to an 11-0 lead before Kirkland found Garcia open on the baseline for a jumper at the 17:36 mark. But that didn’t slow the barrage of three-pointer and fast break point for Pfeiffer, who led by as many as 24 points in the first half and ran out to a 54-32 halftime advantage.

Then Kirkland began to use his size in the paint against the smaller Falcons, scoring 17 points in the second half to spur a Thoroughbreds rally. Djuan Coleman connected on a 3 to cut the margin to 11 points at 77-66 with 9:05 remaining. But that was as close as BLC (2-7) would get, with Pfeiffer using its superior quickness to post the 26 point victory.

Garcia had his best scoring game as a Thoroughbred, pouring in 31 points including six 3-pointers. Kirkland also had a big game, connecting on a career-high 28.

Blue Lights returns to Apex to host a rematch with Stratford this Saturday. Tip time is slated for 2:00pm at the Thales Academy gym, 1300 N. Salem Street.
